How did Socrates die?

Socrates was sentenced to death by drinking poisonous hemlock. His death was caused completely because of a man named Meletus. Meletus accused Socrates of corrupting the youth. Meletus said Socrates was inventing new gods and denying the existence of old gods. And looking back on the tragic event that occurred by Socrates death, there wasn't even enough evidence in court to prove that Socrates corrupted the youth. And now a days we have the freedom of speech and religion, so his death was very unfortunate and in some ways very wrong. It was as if he lived before his time.

Socrates tried to lead people to find their own faith instead of following the faith that was already set in stone. He wasn't respected for this, people were used to only having faith for the gods that were already set in stone, not created. After Meletus had pointed fingers and accused Socrates, he still talked highly of Meletus and said he was a very wise man. Socrates himself was considered the wisest man in Athens, and was highly respected by the people their.Socrates believed his wisdom brought among jealousy, jealous people would feel of him. Meletus seen Socrates as a threat and in my opinion was very jealous of Socrates.I would even think it had alot to do with why Meletus wanted Socrates dead.
