Why is the theory of evolution so important in doing philosophy? More pointedly, why is the theory of evolution key to understanding why human beings behave the way they do? Focus on evolutionary biology and evolutionary psychology when giving your answers. I also suggest being creative here and perhaps using your own life as a template to explain some aspects of evolution.

Evolutionary biology explains why humans change through the generations, physically and mentally. The whole theory of evolution is the reason for change and improvement, in ourselves as people. Our traits and genes adapt due to our environment, survival and diversity. And with all the new traits and genes we evolve into new species over time.

Charles Darwin stated that "In the struggle for survival, the fittest win out at the expense of their rivals because they succeed in adapting themselves best to their environment". We as people have become modernized and adapted well to our environment. In result Evolutionary psychology is the same theory to explain how psychological traits evolve and adapt through time.

We all have many different traits and genes that develop, mainly intelligence, beauty, body structure etc. The theory of evolution is not just in our genes and traits, it bigger then that, it is in our work ethics and morals. Another example is in our values. Now with different cultures and age groups our values, morals and ethics have evolved and changed. They evolve just like our bodies and minds. The more you know about evolution, you know about life and have better ethics, morals and values. to follow.
